FAQs

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions.

UV Resin & Pressed Flowers

Many of our pieces contain real pressed flowers preserved in UV resin.

While every piece is carefully made to preserve the beauty of the botanicals, natural materials will change gradually over time. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and UV light may cause flowers to fade and resin to develop a slight yellow tint as it ages. This process occurs naturally and may happen more quickly if jewellery is frequently left in sunny windows, conservatories, or worn outdoors for extended periods.

While UV-resistant resin is used wherever possible, no resin is completely immune to ageing or colour changes over time. To help preserve the colour and clarity of your jewellery, we recommend storing pieces away from direct sunlight when not in use.

Because real flowers are used, each piece is completely unique. Variations in colour, shape, size, and placement are natural characteristics of handmade botanical jewellery and should not be considered defects.

Raw Brass

Raw brass is a beautiful and durable metal, but it is important to note that it can tarnish over time, especially when exposed to moisture, air, and skin oils. This natural patina is a normal characteristic of brass and can add a unique, vintage appearance to your piece.

Because everyone’s skin chemistry is different, raw brass may occasionally leave a temporary green or dark mark on the skin. This is harmless, easily washed away, and is a natural reaction that can occur with brass jewellery.

With proper care, your raw brass jewellery can maintain its beauty and longevity. However, please be aware that the metal will develop a patina over time, which is a natural and expected process.

Stainless steel

Stainless steel is a durable and low-maintenance metal known for its resistance to tarnish and corrosion. However, like any metal, it can still show signs of wear over time, especially if not cared for properly.

With proper care, stainless steel jewellery can maintain its shine and lustre for many years. Its durability and resistance to tarnish make it an excellent choice for everyday wear.

Plated metals

Gold and silver-plated metals feature a thin layer of gold or silver coating over a base metal. While this provides an elegant appearance, the plating will gradually wear over time through normal use.

With proper care, gold and silver-plated jewellery can retain its shine and beauty. However, some wear and tarnishing over time are normal, and the longevity of the plating will vary depending on individual use and care.

Mixed Metals

Some pieces may contain a combination of different metals, such as raw brass, stainless steel, and plated components.

Different metals can age and react to their environment at different rates. As a result, individual components within a piece may develop patina, tarnish, or signs of wear differently over time. This is a natural characteristic of mixed-metal jewellery and contributes to the unique appearance of each piece as it ages.

Environmental factors such as humidity, skincare products, perfumes, sweat, and storage conditions can influence how quickly different metals change over time.

If you have known metal allergies or sensitivities, please review the materials used in each listing before purchasing.

To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewellery, we recommend following these care guidelines:

Store Properly

✧   Keep jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from other pieces.

✧   Use soft cloth pouches or airtight containers to prevent scratches and minimize exposure to air and moisture.

Avoid Moisture and Chemicals

✧   Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, or exercising.

✧   Keep away from perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and other chemicals that can cause tarnishing or damage plating.

Gentle Cleaning

✧   Wipe jewellery with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils and dirt.

✧   For deeper cleaning, use mild soap diluted with water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.

✧   Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing cloths that could wear away plating.

Handle with Care

✧   Treat each piece delicately to avoid scratches and preserve the finish, especially with plated metals.

✧   Be mindful that raw brass may develop a natural patina over time, while gold and silver plating can wear off, requiring careful handling.

Please note that natural patina, tarnishing, resin ageing, flower fading, colour changes, and the gradual wear of plated finishes are normal characteristics of the materials used and are not considered manufacturing defects.

By following these care tips, you can help maintain the beauty and extend the lifespan of your jewellery!✧
